What is your couple's dosha?

By Stéphane · Updated on October 29, 2026

Your couple's dosha is the blend of your two profiles according to Ayurveda: Vata (the wind), Pitta (the flame) and Kapha (the stone in the water). Doshas in Duo compares your two blends and shows where your rhythms complement each other, where they rub, and which simple gestures help your duo.

Doshas in Duo is ChakraDuo's new test: 24 questions, about 12 minutes each, on two phones, then a 10-chapter report with twelve gestures for your duo. It opens soon in French, English and Spanish.

What are the three doshas?

According to Ayurveda, everyone carries all three doshas, in proportions of their own. Each one combines two of the five elements and colors the way you love.

Dosha Elements In love What it needs Its season
Vata, the wind Air and ether Enthusiastic, full of surprises Freedom and a gentle framework Autumn
Pitta, the flame Fire and water Intense, loyal, protective Respect and shared goals Summer
Kapha, the stone in the water Earth and water Tender, steady, reassuring Stability and time Spring
  • Vata is lively, creative, always on the move. Vata sparks ideas, loves novelty and brings lightness to the duo.
  • Pitta is passionate, direct, organized. Pitta sets the course, loves shared projects and sees things through.
  • Kapha is calm, faithful, patient. Kapha soothes, cares for the bond and holds the duo steady when the wind blows hard.

How do you find your couple's dosha?

In three steps, each at your own pace:

  1. You answer. 24 questions about how you live, love and react. About 12 minutes, with no right or wrong answers.
  2. You invite your partner. One link to send. Each person answers alone, on their own phone, without seeing the other's answers.
  3. You discover your duo. Your two profiles, your shared element, your best moments of the day and twelve gestures for your balance.

The questions are about your energy, your habits and how you react in life as a couple, never about your body. Each answer adds a little Vata, Pitta or Kapha to your profile.

How is a couple's element calculated?

We add the two profiles together, then translate each dosha into elements: Vata = ether and air, Pitta = fire and water, Kapha = water and earth, each in equal parts. The strongest element is your duo's element.

An example with Alex and Sam, the couple in the sample report:

Profile Vata Pitta Kapha
Alex 50% 35% 15%
Sam 15% 25% 60%
The duo (average) 32.5% 30% 37.5%

Translated into elements, Alex and Sam's duo gives: ether 16%, air 16%, fire 15%, water 34%, earth 19%. Their element is water. It comes from both Pitta and Kapha: it is what connects them. It gives the duo gentleness, attachment and a great ability to make up.

What does the Doshas in Duo report contain?

Ten chapters to understand each other better:

  1. Your two profiles: each person's dosha blend.
  2. Your duo's element: ether, air, fire, water and earth combined.
  3. What you bring each other: strengths that complement each other.
  4. Where you rub: differences in rhythm, without judgment.
  5. How you talk to each other: and get through a disagreement.
  6. Your best moments of the day: following the traditional dosha clock.
  7. Your seasons together: what each season awakens in you.
  8. When balance slips: signs to notice in each other.
  9. Twelve gestures for your duo: simple, concrete, to try together.
  10. Your doshas and your chakras: the link with your ChakraDuo map, if you have also taken the couples chakra test.

What time of day is a couple most in tune?

Ayurveda divides the day into six four-hour periods, each linked to a dosha. Here is what the daytime hours offer a duo:

Hours Dosha For your duo
6 to 10 am Kapha A calm moment together, before the day speeds up.
10 am to 2 pm Pitta The right time for shared decisions and planning the week.
2 to 6 pm Vata The most creative time: ideal for dreaming up a trip or a new project.
6 to 10 pm Kapha The evening calms both your rhythms: keep it for each other, screen-free.

At night the cycle starts again: Pitta from 10 pm to 2 am, then Vata from 2 to 6 am. In the report, these moments are matched to your two profiles.

Frequently asked questions

What is a dosha?

In Ayurveda, the Indian tradition of living well, the doshas are three forces that describe a temperament: Vata (air and ether), Pitta (fire and water) and Kapha (earth and water). Everyone carries all three, in proportions of their own.

Do I need to know Ayurveda to take the test?

No. The questions are about your everyday life, and the report explains every term.

Is it a medical test?

No. Doshas in Duo is about temperament and life as a couple. It gives no advice on health, diet or herbs.

Do we have to answer at the same time?

No. Each person answers whenever they like, on their own phone. The report opens once both have finished.

How does it relate to the chakra test?

They are two different ways of looking at your duo. The last chapter links your doshas to your ChakraDuo map if you have taken both. To go further: which chakras go together in a couple and how the chakra test works.

Doshas in Duo draws on the Ayurvedic tradition to talk about temperament and life as a couple. It is not medical advice, nor advice on diet or health.
